living out loud writing groups

If you’re looking for a place to express and write (and/or strengthen your writing/become a better writer) then this might be the place.

If you’ve never been to one of our groups, I can tell you a little bit about them, just understand that it’s all about the experience and talking about it doesn’t really do the process justice.  Having said that, here’s the gist: we write from prompts – quotes, trinkets, photos … things to inspire the imagination and create opportunities for exploration.  Then we share our writing with each other – or not – the choice is up to each person.  Feedback is offered, but it’s not your usual “writing group” feedback where someone tells the writer to strengthen this or qualify that.  In Living Out Loud groups we treat our new writing like the precious baby it is; our feedback leads with what works in the piece – and that can be anything: the language, the mood, or the emotion it captures.

Over time (and even in the course of a 3 hour group), this way of giving and receiving feedback supports the writers by helping them see what is unique about their writing and the way they express themselves, and it also fosters a safety and comfort in the group.

You’d be amazed by what you’re able to uncover when you feel safe, encouraged and inspired.  And you’ll love how much stronger your writing becomes with this process.  And (bonus) you’ll know yourself better.
