There’s something amazing about writing in community over time. In all of my years facilitating Living Out Loud writing groups, I’ve had the privilege of watching women learn more about themselves and what makes them (and their writing) unique; I’ve seen tentative writers become powerful, confident ones, and I’ve seen women write books, poetry, articles, blogs, you name it.

At some point, we started calling ourselves The Writer Babes. Recently, a participant posted a status update on Facebook saying that she was going to The Writer Babes, and a friend of hers wrote that The Writer Babes sounded like a band of super-hero crime fighters by day/writers by night. And in a way, that’s what we are. Writing helps us become super-heroines of our own lives.
