These are some scary-ass times (and yes, I think that should be an official term for what’s going on …).

stay home and write

It’s been 8 months, and we’re still cut off from our regular lives and communities, and it feels like we’re in some freaky dystopian novel before things go completely to hell.

As we get closer to the elections here in the US, I can just feel the anxiety in the air. At the same time, we’re dealing with the louder rise of white supremacy in response to the racism reckoning … and then RBG went and died and the GOP started pushing their “replacement” (as if) … and now the virus infections are starting to rise again.

And the feelings that were already swirling around have kicked up into high gear: fear, anger, hope, extreme unsettledness, and stress, stress, double-stress.

Other than staying home, writing get-out-the-vote letters and postcards like it’s my job, I‘ve been doing what I do when I don’t know what the hell to do: I write through it.

But these days even if I eased the stress one day, the stress-thermometer rises again the next day, so I figured that if I felt like that, a lot of other people might too.

You can opt out of workshop messages each time I offer a new one, and still remain on the list. And you always unsubscribe from the whole shebang any time. I hope you don’t, of course, but you can.) 🙂
